Verstappen's fourth championship at risk?

The Imola GP might have had a lethargic start but by the end things changed. Mclaren arrived Imola with major aerodynamic upgrades which as capable of challenging Verstappen's rocket ship. For those who don't know, last 15 laps Lando started catching up with Verstappen and closed gap from 6 seconds to 0.4 seconds. They raced till the last corner. Verstappen was under pressure.

Now let's check out the upgrades that teams arrived with on Italian GP:

  • Ferrari made minor adjustments/ upgrades to the front and rear wing. Bringing in the new "P" side pods followed by some aerodynamic setups. But Ferrari didn't perform as expected in their home race and had to settle with P3(Leclerc) and P5(Sainz).
  • Mclaren didn't have major adjustments but only had a track wise setting. This got them a result of P2(Norris) and P4 (Piastri).
  • Red bull had brake cooling upgrades only and looks like it did underperform looking at Perez getting overtaken left and right. Red bull bags a P1(Verstappen) and Perez had to settle for P8.
  • Mercedes, Alpine, Sauber and Williams made adjustments to the floor elements whereas Haas played around with front wing and rear suspension which did turn out to be good.
In nutshell Imola GP was a roller-coaster ride by the end and now all the eyes are on Monaco GP happening on 26th may, 2024
